Toe warmers, wool socks and 400 - 600 grams thinsulate boots will take care of most days. Boots with 1200 grams of thinsulate for the really bad days.
On the hands I use either light weight gloves designed for bowhunting or winter golf gloves. Both are thin and have reasonably good feel.
The boots, for the VERY cold days we buy the mickey boots..... U.S. G.I. Extreme Cold Temperature Boots, Used - $29.95 :: Colemans Military Surplus LLC - Your one-stop US and European Army/Navy surplus store with products for hunting, camping, emergency preparedness, and survival gear
mickey mouse boots are surplus gov boots
and unlike the rest of the gov they actually work
my old man wears mickey boots for ice fishin and extreme cold and says they are great
Just curious, ad says they have a rubber exterior. Do your feet sweat in these boots? Kinda why I like the thinsulate inside gortex model, feet stay warm without any moisture.
