It’s sure starting to look that way. Just checked extended forecast for up here. Looks like more rain coming over the next two weeks. It’s going to be a mess for sure.
Big muddy still over flood stage at vicksburg. yazoo river at yazoo city way over flood stage and steady right now. Backwater out all over creation. All four flood control lakes full. Mississippi starting another rise at Memphis and Cairo. If Sardis and Grenada opened the gates, there would be no place for the water to go downstream. Spring thaw has not started yet up north. Got a bad feeling in my bones about this. May be 1973 all over again.

I have never seen so much water go down the Missouri as the last two years. Yesterday it was back up after a short spell of approaching normal summer flow.
You know it's bad when the geese are seeking higher ground. These fools were on the roof of a 30' building this morning at my job today. I'm about 20' up in a boom lift at the time of the photos. They buggered off after the morning storm moved thru and they got disturbed by roofers.

Wow- its is going to be a bad spring for a lot of people.
COE website been showing Butla gates closed since yesterday morning. Wonder why they did that with lake a foot below going over emergency spillway. Seems like they would try to prevent it as long as possible.
It all has to do with what is down stream. I suspect there is already enough flooding down stream plus big river is coming back up. Really no place for the water to go. If you look at all the flooding going on in the Midwest right now all that water is ultimately going to end up in the Mississippi, either below or above us. The big river is going to stay up for a long time and we haven’t started to see any snowmelt and ice out yet. It’s going to be a mess for a long time this year.

Mississippi, Ohio River Communities, Businesses Brace for Spring Floods
Bloomberg - Are you a robot?High water on the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers is snarling barges loaded with grain, chemicals and fuel, and forecasters are worried things will get worse once the snow starts to melt.
The looming U.S. spring could bring a sudden rise for temperatures and downpours across the Upper Midwest, where deep snows already cover the ground that was saturated before it froze over winter. That’s all adding up to worry along the banks of the Mississippi River, from its headwaters near the Canadian border to the Gulf of Mexico.

You are right. I work in crop insurance and there are 10s of 1000s of acres under water now and I am afraid it is only going to get worse. We are already preparing for a huge prevented planted corn acreage and maybe soybeans if things don't start looking up. With the snow up north, it is only going to get worse. The MS. river may not go down until the 4th of July. It maybe another '73 here in the Delta.
