    Default Spare battery for electronics?

About to add a few new units and thinking about a livewell recirculating pump. Don’t want all that to drag down my cranking battery, am I just being paranoid or does anyone else run another battery?

I just carry a set of jumper cables in the boat. I've had to jump the starting battery off a trolling battery more than once.

I've been using this little dude on my console unit last couple of trips, it's powering a Helix 9 Mega Chirp SI. I've rode scanning around for a few hours in a day and never had any issue. They are cheap and small enough you could have a couple of backups, I like it so far, thinking of buying a couple of more.

I may just run it on the starting battery and see how bad it runs it down before all that extra work and space, and money! I’ll make sure to throw a set of cables in the boat in case. I charge my boat on my on board so I don’t expect it to drain the battery, but I’ve heard of some of these new units eating up some batteries.

Go to harbor freight and spend $40 and buy a jump starter pack. I run an aerator and an Elite Ti off of it and have juice left over, usually. It has a usb plug and 2 socket plugs; as well as 2 jumper cables per usual. It's portable and light.

Me too. 3 Trojan golf cart batteries under the center console. Separate battery for cranking and electronics. I always have a set of jumper cables also.

I may run it for one full trip and test my theory out. Just don’t want to end up with dead TM batteries, dead starting battery and a set of jumper cables and no hot battery to connect to.

I run a dedicated " house " battery ( group 31) for everything besides trolling motor . I also have a dedicated starter battery for big motor . I have friends that have been broke down running accessories on their outboard battery . These new EFI motors will act bad with a weak battery.
