I never heard of one being used like that but it's a good idea! Or you could mound a hand control trolling motor on the back like you would a kicker! Defiantly be worth trying!

Probably work to some degree but for the expense and dealing with batteries think I would take a look at those drift paddles Cornfieldcrappie makes. Manual operation but fairly inexpensive compared to power poles.

Used chains Friday and Saturday because paddles would not do what we needed them too, great in deeper flats but not much good in 4 or 5 foot of water.

Sometimes, it's just not meant to be on the water.

Wasn't that so much as the shallow water, paddles just couldn't get deep enough.

I looked into it for a long time. The advantages are endless. But I was looking into a lot of different types of propelled motors I could use in the back. The one your talking about I think just goes one direction. I don't think it has a reverse.i considered an old terrova but no matter how I figured it I couldn't find a place I would like to mount it. Min kotta has another motor out now that serves as a kicker motor but I forget why but somehow I hit a dead end there too. One of the biggest advantages i thinking was shallow water rigging. I'm a firm believer that fish are being spoiled by the boat and the silent stalker is awesome but at some point there hearing that trolling motor as well. A couple weeks ago I was in a about 16 inches of water and I spooked a fish out of a stake bed. I saw the stakes erratically bounce as she maneuvered thru. Crazy enough I stuck a minnow tipped jig right in front of her and she inhaled it as she was fleeing! Ha. This happened as soon as I turned the trolling motor on...

It's interesting for sure and think it would work, the one I am looking at does have reverse and forward with variable speed.
Control the speed of your EM motor with a corded remote that can be mounted or handheld. Offers infinitely variable speed control in forward and reverse. Features neutral (off) detent position. The motor can be steered using the boat steering wheel or outboard tiller.
