Thanks I'll check on that too, I've got a 16 foot boat with a 12 v ipilot link

Could someone please tell me why I need a circuit breaker? I've been arguing with a friend about this for 2 days...he owns 5 boats and says he doesn't have one on his and refuses to have one! He says he's never hear of doing that and it's crazy to him....he says it will only cause problems because it could blow while fishing and be stuck without a Trilling motor and that there is no point in having one.....someone please tell me why I need one?!?!

Circuit breaker either resets manually or automatic, how you gonna be stuck? No different than a fuse, just bigger, ask him why he has them in his house.

You ever see guys weld with a battery on TV? That's why you need one. With a direct connection on the positive side of the battery, IF you get a short to a ground somewhere, it will have to burn the wire in two before you'll loose the connection. Major FIRE hazard in your boat.

Any of these will work. They have the rubber covers for the ring terminals.

Everything electrical needs a circut breaker or fuse .....You have them in your house...in your car....and boat. Its a safety device....as much as your new Terrova costs you should want to protect it and your boat. MinnKotta recomends it also.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

A new $1200 tm . $30 breaker go with the breaker and protect your tm. And your friend is crazy not to have a breaker in his boat. Mine has never triped but if ir does all I got to do is push a button. And get 6 gauge wire.

    Default Trolling motor wires

Put the breaker or fuse block within 6 inches from battery for best protection. If you put it up front and the wire between battery and trolling motor shorts out it will still catch fire. That wire will remain hot even if breaker kicks off if put up front. I used the big fuse block from Walmart with 50 amp fuse. You can find them by the automotive stereos. I have never blown a fuse on my 80# Terrova. 13.00 for block and 2 fuses. I had a 60 amp minnkota breaker that was getting hot so I put the big fuse block in and it never gets warm.
