    Default That's bad

My daughter-in-law travels Hwy 61 from Walls to Lake Cormorant schools to get our granddaughter from school. Today she is traveling south and sees a car on the right side of the road. Traffic is light, she signals to pull to the left lane. She sees that it's a deputy's car so she slows a bit under the speed limit. She will be making a left turn onto Starlanding rd soon so she stays in the left lane. She turned the left signal on when traffic started getting close.
The deputy pulls her over, said no reason for changing to the left lane when she passed him (he didn't have his blue light on) and gave her a ticket for traveling in the left lane for more than 500 feet.
I change lanes for anything stopped on the side of the road. Never know when someone will step out in front of you.

A lot of states its the law to move over when there is a vehicle on the shoulder. Especially an emergency vehicle. It really only makes good sense to do so. It's scary changing a tire or bearing on the side of the road when people won't merge over. I believe I would talk to the Judge on this one.

I'm sure he was just caught up in his jurisdiction. He has solved all of the thefts in the area, shut down all of the meth labs and arrested all that were involved. He has nothing else to do but pull someone over and give them a ticket for something that minuscule. I understand that we have traffic laws and they are there for our benefit but tickets for something like that really aggreviate me, especially for a deputy sheriff. We have a lot more important things that need to be taken care of besides a stupid traffic ticket for something like that.

I would have to go to court and ask the judge about that ticket. Because there is a law in Mississippi about slowing down and moving to the left lane when emergency vehicles are present. I move over every time I see a car or truck on the side of the road myself just for safety sakes.

I picked up my granddaughter from her day job. She wasn't happy. Now to get ready for the night job. During October she works in the kitchen at a farm during the day and a member of a haunted hayride on weekends. They had some 50 police from the local town to show up for lunch. Some were rude. She filed a complain with her manager and the manager filed it with the boss. They are working with 3 in the kitchen now, will add another person next week and 2 more before the month ends. Then back to 2 people for the next year.
