Walked out this morning, seems each step killed 10 to 20 worms. Never seen them this large and this many before. They've cleared everything but the St. Augustine. I let the chickens out for 3 hours and walked them to the backyard. They stopped under the swing and didn't walk away for 20 minutes. They will get out for most of the day tomorrow.

I've had them at my place for 6 weeks. I had been warned about them so I caught them early. I've treated them several times and it knocks them back but soon a new generation hatches and you start over. Have gotten rain 16 out of the last 18 days and it's washing away most of the poison. Good thing is treatment is cheap and they are relatively easy to kill.

I was using a carbaryl spray and am now using a liquid seven that is supposed to be about 5 times stronger. I think the residual is better with the new stuff also.

Thanks, right now using malathion, it's about 50.00 a gallon at TSC. May have to try some seven cause I can see this being ongoing for a while.

Don't waste your time with pyrethroids. Worms have built up resistance. DuPont makes a product called Prevathon that we use in field crops gives 4 weeks residual. I'm not sure if they have a turf and pasture grass label. You can check with local ag extension offices to see if it is labeled for turf grass. Probably can google a label and find out.

    Great safe product.

My chickens got out of the coop for 8 hours saturday. They left the coop running for the backyard. After 6 hours they started moving off to other spots on the hill. I walked over the backyard and didn't see the first worm. Most of the grass is stems.
I asked my son about the grass at his new house, there isn't any. He's been sowing bermuda seeds and watering it as work is being done on the house. The only green spots of grass is the St. Augustine I transplanted 2 months ago. With all the rain we've had tomorrow might be a good day to transplant some more.

get your lawn guy out quick!! I had them two years ago and they destroyed half my back yard in three weeks. once the lawn guy sprayed for them, it eliminated them almost immediately! Good luck.
