    Thanks Major. Never thought of freezing them that way. I already do the metal bowl with ice water in it when cleaning but never thought about the freezing part

    Once our water temp gets about about 70 degrees, the water in my livewell is replaced with a large majority of ice, both cubed and in milk cartons. I want the fish I keep to be extremely cold when they are taken out of the livewell and head to the fillet table. I don't know that I'll be freezing them in the manner he mentioned in the article.

    When you don't have to keep the fish alive, the ice/slush deal is very effective as it really does keep the fish cold all the way around. Only thing that I noticed that is different than what the article said is that they are pretty slimey.....but, that's not a big deal since the fish are cold and solid. Much better than just throwing them in a cooler with a bag of ice in there. I've never tried freezing them the way he described, but may give it a try. Good article.

    I Have found some 6 yr old fish in my freezer and ate it. Couldn't tell the difference. I think he is talking about a delicate fish.
