Trolling motor tip #1.....disconnect the foot control and put in one of your dry storage compartments.....using the remote is a breeze.....lots easier than the foot control.
Now that being said, I often wonder how fast I can get that foot control out from below the front deck and hooked back up the day the battery dies on my remote and I'm doing 2 mph toward a new $60,000 Ranger.

Wasn't headed towards a $60,000 Ranger, but was headed towards the bank when my battery in co-pilot stopped working Saturday. Got the foot control out in a hurry..... Used it the rest of the morning but it was a PAIN!
