huh? in a plano crankbait box, is there another way?
This thread is to talk about storing crankbaits.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

I store mine in Plano handi boxes and then store the boxes in bags.

Thanks G-3, just got my first 15 bandits in today. Know I need to have a way to keep them on the boat.

Here is what I use. Bass Pro Shops XPS Double Sided Tangle-Free Crankbait Organizer
WALLY MARSHALL PRO STAFF
CATCHIN' CRAPPIE GUIDE SERVICE
CREEKS ROD TRANSPORT RACK

I have a couple of these boxes that I use for cranks, there are three removeable trays, a flip top that is great for swivels or weights and the top opens up for all kinds of storage and tools.

put 2 or 3 of the same colors in each little seperate area. I'm still wayyy behind most of you guys as far as sheer number though.

Im like DD...would love to come up to that number one day. But, here's my question.....as far as where to buy um I know you can pick up stuff outta the sales bin at several places, do you all just look and pick up anything on sale or is it specific to certain brands. I'd seen in the past its been Bandit-Bandit and Bandit. If it is limited to a certain brand, think I may need to figure out what to sell first arms, legs or both...

"Cast your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some." When they did they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.
Maybe we are just on the wrong side sometimes.....
At Bass pro, I pick up the Wally's. They actually have some good colors, they run pretty true and they are a buck each cheaper than the bandits. Norman also puts out some of the smaller cranks in a few decent colors. Don't forget that you can use more than just cranks on them though. I have a couple Rapala broken backs that have a big lip on them that are for 8-12 foot and have caught fish on them as well. Big thing is the depth they run at, colors and do they run true

You people are way too organized....and before somebody jumps my case...my presentation was delayed again till later today.
Actually, I use plano 3600s and slap 5 or 6 in a milk crate that I keep in my boat most of the time. Kind of handy not to have to go in and out of the storage boxes all the time. And the crate keeps them from sliding around and being a tripping hazzard. I kind of like Slab's idea though, but those boxes are fairly high new at over $40 each.
C Hunter 68 - Bandits speak the universal lanquage of "eat me" to Crappie all over the South and I'm sure in the North too. That being said, there are others that I run sometimes and still others that others run and swear by. Here's a list of what also works sometimes for me:
Norman DLNs
Bomber Fat Free Fingerlings
Storm Wild Eye Shad Swimbaits
Some off brand 2" bargain bin specials.
I keep looking at Cabela's grave diggers as well. Currently on sale at $2 each. The deep size runs 10 to 14 is 2" long and there are 3 colors I'm itching to try - Vegas Lights, Olive Shiner and Bombay & Lime. I'd bet those would work pretty well.
Also, Wally Marshalls are said to work well also.
It's not that Bandits are way better than others, it's jus that they're widely available, good colors, right size and depth and they're proven to work. Basically, you can't go wrong with them. The others are somewhat different - bigger, different depth, different wiggle, louder or quieter. At times they'll outfish Bandits, but others the fish won't touch them. Day in and Day out, Bandits will perform...the others, for me, are hit and miss.
If you're trying to build your arsenal, check the bass boards used tackle. A lot of times you can pick up small lots at about $3 each. Also, Bandit.com has some on clearance right now at 2.99, which is pretty decent. Or here's a source for $3.99 everyday price.
Bandit Series 300 Crankbait
You can filll out the numbers with the used and clearance shopping, but for the premium colors, you'll prolly have to cough up $4 each. Not much of a way around it unless you catch a great deal with patience.
