It does hurt my feelings when things such as this are stated by people most likely basing their knowledge of Halliburton on what the politically motivated media has reported and repeated, but I can take it and I will not cry. I believe you are actually talking about KBR which at one time was a subsidiary of Halliburton. Halliburton completely divested itself of KBR about two years ago. The only business Halliburton does now is oilfield service. When it was doing business as a military contractor, it was doing the exact same business it has been doing for our government since the Vietnam war. This through presidencies of both parties and through each and every conflict since. They were the most qualified and ready to hit the ground running choice there was. Anyone who knows anything about government and politics know that you cannot blame the economy on any one person rather republican or democrat. A president is limited to what he can do by the congress. Congress actually has the final decisions, that why they have the right to turn over vetos. The economy is controlled by the entire government as well as each and every person who goes out and spends money.

I am a everyday American working in a Tyson factory, and I have no problems with losing my house, cars, or anything else. Why? because I live within my means. I didn't try to buy a house that I knew I couldn't afford today and 100 years from know. I do not have 5 credit cards maxed out. I am happy with what I have. For the most part the people losing there housed have themselves to blame. They signed the same mortgage contract that I did, and it says what there in Black in White what you payments will be for the life of the loan, and if it is a A.R.M. then it says that after 10 years the payment will be higher and based on the Annual Percentage Rate. People were to busy trying to keep up with the Jones to read there contracts.

The economy today is doing nothing different than its has over the years, thus the reason for the Depression, thus the reason for the energy crisis in the 80's when the lower speed limits were enforced. The economy is always going through a rise and fall. These are rough times I agree but just as our parents and grandparents did, if we live within our means and manage our budget we will make it through.

Well said Crappie Obsessed. I have to wonder why so many lender lowered their standards, in the last few years, to make it easier to buy a home. I am sure that they were making a lot doing it. I have a problem feeling sorry for these lenders. If they had to take more responsibilty for the loans going bad we probably wouldn't be in this mess.

Oh yes, ever wonder the real reason why OPEC is reducing output. Maybe they believe that we will not be drilling where we can find a lot of oil.

oil companies want us to open these areas so they can buy up the leases and sit on it to hold oil prices where they want it, if they control the supply to keep prices up what incentive is there to increase oil production and refinery capacity????
