thanks, downwind, buzz, cane pole, I've narrowed it down to sony or samsung
come on guys and gals need mor info.
I got 2 Sony Bravias based on consumer reports. LG, Sony, Samsung were tops in the lcd panels. This was last year. I have no problems (except charter).
We discussed TV here here before I got one. I knew what to look for before I got them based on the input here.

I like the LCD's, they are a little more expensive, but they have a longer
life time, are lighter, and don't have any burn in image issues. It would be
best to get a 120Hz refresh rate but they are still expensive, if you get a
LCD with 8ms or under response time, most of the motion artifact comes from
the mpeg compression from the TV source (cable or satellite).
If you don't mind the weight, and want a bigger flat panel, at a lower cost,
and will not have static images on the screen go plasma.
If it does not matter to you whether its flat or not and you have a shaded
room go DLP (biggest size, lowest cost)
The most important thing is to figure out where you will put it, and the
distance and angle you will be viewing from, and then try to view static
images and fast motion in the showroom at that distance and angle. But keep
in mind that the show rooms are darkened (usually) so the plasma and DLP's
will appear brighter than they will in a normally lighted room.
