Just got our renewal at $360.00 more a year Bill . I think rates are up across the industry. I use USAA and have for 20+ years. We will keep them cause it’s the best we could find.
We just got our bill for insurance renewal and I'm not too happy about it. So I thought I would look into changing. We have been with State Farm for over 40 years so I have no idea what others charge. There are so many companies out there that I have no idea where to start looking for a quote. State Farm has treated me good with the 2 or 3 claims I had years ago but it just seems to me they are ever charging me. Maybe not but I won't know until I ask. So, any recommendations of who to check with? I prefer a company that has been around for a while. Thanks

Wife has a Hyundai SantaFe. That vehicle was being stolen at a higher rate than other vehicle due to some weakness found with the security system. Without warning the cost of our coverage tripled. Certainly had me seeing red.

Progressive is one I would check with.
But all I’m looking for is legality to drive. Totally burnt on full coverage years ago. If you go accident free for a few years, and can fix minor stuff yourself - or live with a dent - it pays off. All insurance is a racket

I get a discount by using same insurance company as my home, Cincinnati Insurance.
Our/mine rates seem stable here in Michigan. We are insured with a company that serves people in education. Really good service too. My Progressive boat insurance was affordable and also had great service. Dropped State Farm home insurance years ago when rates started jumping.
Thanks for all the input. I got a quote from Progressive and their rates are way lower but don't include comprehensive insurance. Maybe they don't offer it for 20 year old vehicles.? I think I'll try USAA and see what I get.

I’m a little slow on terminology,
don’t always understand it all.
But is comprehensive what I’ve always called full coverage?
Covers fixing your ride, or totaling it out and paying off?
If I’m understanding right and that is the case, I’d be really curious to nail them down, just how much they say your 20 year old is worth in the event of a total loss.
My dissatisfaction with ins companies started back in the 90’s w farm bureau. Hit a deer in my Silverado, found out they would not pay for real GM replacement parts. Only import knock off stuff. That was the beginning of the end for me with full coverage. I took what they offered, bought a GM bumper, grille, and headlight housing and put them on myself - then dropped everything but liability.

Comprehensive coverage helps cover the cost of damages to your vehicle when you're involved in an accident that's not caused by a collision. Comprehensive coverage covers losses like theft, vandalism, hail, and hitting an animal. For example, if you are driving and hit a deer, the damage would be covered under comprehensive coverage. However, if you swerve to miss the deer and hit a tree, comprehensive coverage doesn't apply because this type of accident is considered a collision with an object.
Comprehensive coverage is an optional coverage you can carry to help protect your vehicle. Unlike some coverages, you don't select a limit for comprehensive. The most it will pay is based on the actual cash value of your vehicle. You will be responsible for paying your selected deductible.
