    Default Auto insurance??

We just got our bill for insurance renewal and I'm not too happy about it. So I thought I would look into changing. We have been with State Farm for over 40 years so I have no idea what others charge. There are so many companies out there that I have no idea where to start looking for a quote. State Farm has treated me good with the 2 or 3 claims I had years ago but it just seems to me they are ever charging me. Maybe not but I won't know until I ask. So, any recommendations of who to check with? I prefer a company that has been around for a while. Thanks

Just got our renewal at $360.00 more a year Bill . I think rates are up across the industry. I use USAA and have for 20+ years. We will keep them cause it’s the best we could find.

Wife has a Hyundai SantaFe. That vehicle was being stolen at a higher rate than other vehicle due to some weakness found with the security system. Without warning the cost of our coverage tripled. Certainly had me seeing red.

There is a recall on certain models to get the anti-theft software upgraded.

Yes. We have checked into it. Then checked with the insurance to see if premiums would go down once done. You can guess the answer

I've seen "suggestions" online about changing insurance coverage EVERY OTHER YEAR ... to get cheaper rates, better coverage, etc. But they also say to check with at least 3 different companies annually vs your current insurer (price comparison shopping, as it were).

I had Progressive for many years & never had to file a claim, yet the rates increased yearly (on the same vehicle). I switched to Geico for a slightly lower rate several years ago, but their rates also climbed yearly. When a storm blew a tree down on my truck & totaled it, Geico gave me $13K for it (& I paid $17K for it about 10yrs ago). It was a 2006 Tundra, and has been replaced with a 2010 Tundra for $15K. And of course the insurance is higher, because the truck is newer, but I'm betting the value of this truck is less than my 2006 Tundra (much higher mileage than the 2006, which was the major factor in my getting the $13K for the totaled vehicle).

This is not an endorsement for either Progressive or Geico. Just adding another company to check with (Geico) and see where it stacks up against the others mentioned.

Progressive is one I would check with.
But all I’m looking for is legality to drive. Totally burnt on full coverage years ago. If you go accident free for a few years, and can fix minor stuff yourself - or live with a dent - it pays off. All insurance is a racket Auto insurance??

I get a discount by using same insurance company as my home, Cincinnati Insurance.

Our/mine rates seem stable here in Michigan. We are insured with a company that serves people in education. Really good service too. My Progressive boat insurance was affordable and also had great service. Dropped State Farm home insurance years ago when rates started jumping.

Thanks for all the input. I got a quote from Progressive and their rates are way lower but don't include comprehensive insurance. Maybe they don't offer it for 20 year old vehicles.? I think I'll try USAA and see what I get.
