    I love reading westerns (l’amour, Johnstone) and I always smile when they go into a cafe and get a loaded dinner plate for 25c or so. But when a cowboy was working for $30-$40 and found it is all relative. Beer was a nickel, and I’m old enough to remember when it was a dime!

    Things were a lot cheaper then. Houses were certainly cheaper

    they almost gave away pick up trucks back then , a 57 chevy truck could be had for around 1500 ....
    they made dealerships take them sometimes to get rid of them is what I was told .....

    25 cents would get me a loaf of white bread and gas to mow the yard when I was 10 or so .....
    the bread was bait that I got to fish with after I mowed the yard ....not kidding

    Take over a dollar to fill the tank of a push mower these days with none of it left for bread
