Default The Dogs ever expanding vocabulary

The Shepard is a smart girl. If she sees the key fob for my truck she runs and waits by the door. I was talking to the wife and said the words ride and go. Next thing I know she is looking at me waiting for my next move. The dogs listen better than the wife does come to think of it. ( If she reads this I will be in the doghouse. Considering they have the run on the place it wouldn't be a punishment.) If I could claim them as dependants they would be just like real children.

It is just a matter of time before she learns how to spell. Then all bets are off

I had several of these loyal savages. One was way too smart for her own good. She would bring you a cold beer out of the cooler or the fridge. Even shutting the door back. One day at a muddy and swollen creek, I pitched a small rock into the waters, and she fetched it. Not believing my eyes I selected another and examined it for unusual markings and memorized them. Down into the swift and completely muddy water it went. Probably two feet deep at that spot and she put her head under and searched underwater and out she came with that exact rock. Thousands of rocks similar, but each time she would get that exact rock and no one has ever been able to explain what she was doing. Wasn’t seeing it that is for sure. Had to have been scenting it somehow.

I was in college when I got her as a puppy. Lived in a rough town just to save money, as I worked my way through school. One night she jumped on top of me and very softly blew into my face to awaken me. Very quiet. Once she did that, she jumped down and put her front paws on the bedroom window sill and looked back and forth at me. I got up and looked and saw the neighbor girls coming home from the bars, and so I went back to bed. She wouldn’t have it and I looked again and that was when I saw HIM. Lurking in the bushes getting ready to attack. Well he went from predator to prey as soon as he heard those toe nails scratching the pavement, her sprinting at high speed straight at him. The girls were oblivious and I called just before she left reached him. Later that same night, same thing look look, and I did and a dude was standing next to my car looking all innocent. Fastest man alive, pretty sure. That house’s front door suddenly swung open, and she was half way to him when he started screaming. He did an amazing superman dive through the open window of his buddy’s car. I guarantee you that old boy still remembers that dog and that big redneck with that shotgun. Came out of no where, no warning, 4 am. LOL

I now have a schnauzer because I got tired of worrying if they would bite. They will bite Shirley. That is the problem, they like to decide what the punishment is for intrusion. I just want a dog to alert me, and then let me determine what their punishment will be. That and the hair. Oh My God have I eaten a pile of dog hair. It is like the stuff just grows on them or something. Oh and it is hot down here and they enjoy the cool so much more than heat.

Your dog is patterning you because she wants to do things with you. She is bored. She wants to throw the ball or take her camping. Like children they are. I used to use a racket to smack tennis balls to exercise mine. Takes about five minutes and their tongues are three feet long. I did so many things with them because they are loyal and loving and as long as you do not abuse them, they will give their life to keep you safe.

A man that trained dogs to work with sick people and such, got sick himself. He was in a nursing home and his wife brought in his favorite dog for a visit- shepherd. She noticed there were a lot of people standing in the hallway a few doors down. Then came a knock at the door and a lady asked them if would she bring the dog to visit her sick father. They explained the dog wasn’t that kind of dog. She asked again and finally the wife agreed. She walked with the dog and as they got close the dog got out ahead and quickly slithered in past all the people in a very crowded room. Desperate to gain control, she tried to get past the crowd, but it was too late. The dog approached the bedside and put it’s snout under the man’s hand. The dog then nudged his hand a few times and the man said- “Good Boy”. The room erupted with screams and gasps as that man awoke when he felt the dog. He had been taken to that nursing home because he had fallen into a deep coma and was not expected to survive it. He walked out of that place because of his inner connection to dogs, and having a very smart daughter, and a good neighbor.

Dog lovers can have a very special connection to their kids. Some own dogs and never try to achieve that. Shame really. The dogs are willing to try.
Maybe they will bite this one……

dogs are truly man's best friend , saw a show recently where they proved without any doubt scientifically that dogs actually wanted humans . it was really interesting , they hooked them up to an ekg and monitored areas of their brains and the reaction to different stimuli . a pat on the head beat a treat every time
had a shepard once upon a time , he knew when we were leaving the ranch somehow every time we went to town , when you went out of the house to leave he would be laying on top of the roof of the car .
the moral of the story is that when your dog gives that i love you look , it really means it

She gets your attention to play when she wants. She doesn't want you messing with her at times. She will dribble a tennis ball across the house when she wants to play. She wants her petting early in the morning before I go to work, and then when I come home. She is very protective. Any unusual sound from outside and she explodes into a barking fit. As far as someone that breaks into the house. They would be better to deal with the dog than they would me. Not that I am tough, I just have a good aim. . She love to take a ride. I am looking for a pontoon boat to add to my fishing equipment. It will be perfect for her and her little Bulldog brother.
