    Default cell phone techs

I accidentally deleted a text thread about 2 months ago that I would like to try and recover. Have any of you ever tried to recover deleted text? There are some free apps on line that you can download to scan your phone to see what can be recovered. I attempted to run one but it said I had to root my phone. I tried to root my phone and when it came to the end of the root session it said if I mark complete on the rooting that it could render my phone useless and it may not load and it could void my warranty. I have no warranty but did not want to mess my phone up so I cancelled the rooting. I only want to recover the deleted texts from one contact. It has been about 2 months, do you think that data has already been written over or will new data go to empty space before writing over old data that is on internal phone space? I have no sd card or back up. I just want to recover the one contact but do not even know if all the data/texts would show up jumbled or would each deleted contact thread still be listed under the specific contact. I bet it would cost too much to have a phone place do this, so I was wondering if any of you have tried it at home and were successful.

    What kind of phone?

Odds are slim with that much time passing, but if you seldom text it may still be around.
