I have been building "true" custom furniture and cabinets since 95 and always have been in woodworking, whether framing or remodeling. This is my professional opinion, as I do make my living doing woodworking and I have one myself. I bought it to carry to jobs, because I always need one outside of the shop. I could not live, as easily without it. It takes anything I through at it and has performed as well and better than some commercial models.
The new Dewalt 13" planer is by far the best small planer on the market. It will plane material to a smooth finish with virtual no snipe, if the out feed tables are adjusted according to manufacturers suggestions.
The out feeds extentions do not come with the planer, and they are the only ones on the market that do not provide them. Do not let this scare you. You can build the extentions yourself.
It is easy to use. The knives are easy access (witch it has 3, so it creates that smooth finish). Accuracy is no problem. The DeWalt was named the best 13" planer on the market by Fine Woodworking in there product research magazine.I just can't say enough about it. This only my opinion, but nothing you can say will change my mind. That makes it a FACT.
