Ok, maybe not on hold forever. Can't get the idea out of my mind. Stay tuned... LOL. Will read up on it some more and maybe plan for next year (and maybe not).

Since I said "stay tuned" in my last post, I thought I better come back and let those of you who were on the edge of your seats wondering what I was going to decide about this dilemma know that I have come up with a solution. Takes my pea brain a little while to process things and figure it all out. The idea of living on a boat started because I wanted to be able to keep on cruisin up (or down) the river and fish in the other lakes and see the various crystal clear springs, etc and not have to be limited by needing to get back to our home base by dark. So I thought of living full time on a boat. Idea was nixed for MANY great reasons. Then thought of getting a weekender type of boat so we could sleep in it whenever we wanted but not full time. Too many issues with that. SO... finally it occurred to me that we could just pack some clothes and the pup and maybe some staples in our cooler and just stay at spots along the river (motel, not tent camping). A quick google search came up with many awesome places, pet friendly, reasonably priced places right on the river with marinas, restaurants, you name it. So I was looking at it all wrong. My main goal was to explore the river all the way at our own pace. We don't need to live aboard to do that. We can even drive our truck and boat trailer up to Jacksonville and drop it off (it's only a couple of hours by vehicle) and then take our time going down the river and pulling out when we hit the other end. For the few hundred dollars we will spend on lodging along the way (we are too old for tent camping... at least that's what our bones say) it will be a trip of a lifetime and something I've always wanted to do. Thanks everyone for the input on the liveaboard idea.

I am glad you made this choice. My concern would be river pirates. I would hate to have to be shooting pirates all of the time if I lived on a river. I hear of them occasionally on the lower White and Arkansas rivers.
