Probably early blight, just remove and discard the affected leaves.

Tomatoes love calcium,. A good source for that is pelletized lime. You can get it from a home center or garden store. Also grab some tomato food spikes. They will help you get some good tomaters as well!

mulch around them (i use pine needles for the acid content)......when it rains, mud splashes up onto the bottom leaves, a main cause of early blight, mulching will prevent this....and like wvsportsman said, cut off the already affected leaves

all tomatoes have about the same acid content (red ones, yellow ones are very low).....its the ones with a higher sugar level that gives them the "acidic" taste, as far a a specific variety im not sure ( i think Rutgers may be one), but picking them to early will make them not have a strong taste (like picking them while still a little green and setting them in the window).....ph levels of the soil also will have an affect on the taste, thats why i mulch with pine needles, to lower the Ph around the plant.
