Question Thinking about buying a new camera

Is there an advantage in having a small cam corder over a digital camera? Can you get quality prints from a cam corder? Is it a long process to download the video then go thru steps to stop at a specific picture and capture it as a still print?

I presently have a Kodak DX7440..4mp & 4 optical zoom..It is cumbersome to have on the boat..Looking for something smaller that will take quality pictures.

I like the Kodak because of the docking station which I just sit the camera in to charge & transfer pictures..I like this feature..

    Any info will be appreciated..

When I keep my gratitude higher than my expectations I have a good day

I have always owned Sony Cybershots and have been very pleased with them. I use the data transfer cable to download pics to my puter and have rechargable AA batteries. I have the H1 which is the bigger SLR body, but I like that because it's stable when you set it down for self-timer pics. It takes good videos with sound but I'm not much of a video guy.

If I was going to buy a new camera, I'd like to give this one a try.

This is another one I've been looking at
    Panasonic DMC-TS2A Waterproof Digital Camera (Blue) - DMC-TS2A - RitzCamera.com

You may like it because it is a "slim line" and will fit in your front shirt pocket.

The thing I'm not sure about is getting it to stand up for the self-timer pics.

The docking stations for the Kodak's are kinda like training wheels for a camera, they're easy to use but you're limited to just that type of camera if you don't want to lean how to up/download pics manually.

Hello Don, I see your Kodak has a regular viewfinder. I have a cheaper Kodak that also has a regular view finder. They brought the Forrestal to Phila a couple weeks ago, and I took my boat down to photograph the ship. Anyhow, I borrowed my neighbors nikon camera which only has the LCD display, no view finder. At times with the sun behind me, which is best for pictures, it was near impossible to find the subject on the LCD screen. Thankfully I had my trusty Kodak with me. Almost all the new cameras just have an LCD screen. I'd try very hard to test one out in the bright sun before buying one.

Fellow CDC member Baron Von Crappie on the Minnesota board posts a lot of very nice pictures that I am always impressed by the color, clarity, etc. He has said he uses this simple Olympus Archived Products &gt Stylus 720 SW. Look through some of his posts (especially back into the winter months).

Got my son a Kodak C182 12MP for his birthday about 1 month and a half ago. Nice camera! Got it for like $73, free shipping, no tax. Look on Amazon or Newegg.
Its pretty small, uses SDHC cards, AA batteries and take nice pics and video.

We have both, a canon camcorder and a digital camera. they are both absouloutly fantastic. The digital camera has a 10X zoom and so many features I don't know all the things you can do with it. My wife has taken some fantastic pictures with it. Power Shot A 2000 IS.
