    Default Bad Moderators

It's come to my attention that recently, there has been a Moderator who within his own mind seems to have taken on a "God" like stance and tends to input his own feelings into another's post by editing certain words, thus making the overall thread appear on the surface to have been written by the original poster. The original poster in this case has been placed on a one day "Ban" for his PM's. to said Moderator. The purpose of the PM's were to not place their argument in public view. However, this particular Moderator found them offensive and placed said Ban on a person that's been a high standing member much longer than the Moderator has even been a member.

Pappy has been an "Oak" in his Moderation of this forum and has truly done the best job anyone could expect from someone in his position. His works are appreciated by many who have been members of Crappie.com for some time.

However, in my personal opinion, we have a certain Moderator who in the beginning seemed to froth at the mouth in anticipation of attaining the power to input his controls upon the people of the forum. The rules of the forum indicate what is allowed and what is not. Recently, we've had some humdingers of posts going on which have been very entertaining. Some included a persistent ghost from the past which pops up from time to time stirring up a hornets nest of controversy until he gets banned again. Some include one of the forums strongest members whom I would vote for public office in a heartbeat. Some include members that are fairly new, yet seem to have an abundance of posts. Unfortunately, it's posts like these that make the forum. I know I have enjoyed many posts that seem to be a battle of wits. When threads like these disappear, the forum seems to go into a boring silence until things settle down. There is a way to indicate you feel a person is a moron, without being blunt about it and maintaining the rules of the forum.

Regardless of the threads, there have been those times when the Mod joins in on the fray. We are all human and make mistakes, but to obviously seem to be on a power trip is unacceptable. Realizing that Moderating is a thankless job, I feel there should be a Moderator to Moderate the Moderators. Pappy, IBN and a few others come to mind for this position.

This being said, I think it's time for a certain Moderator to be demoted and sent "back to" the masses from wince he came. Either that, or do the job he is supposed to do without bringing his personal feelings into the discussion.

I don't know reaper, this is after all a private site, subject to the owners will and we are here at his discretion, I dont agree with all the moderators, but what can you do, you cant use the ignore button on them and like a wise man once said, power corrupts.

    peace man

CR, I thought Ed was the only one that could ban a member...

DonG, this could be true, and if it is, perhaps Ed may now know a few of the opinions of others that are not involved. I personally do not expect this thread to last for any amount of time at all. It's merely meant to bring attention to what's going on without sending a bunch of PM's whining about it.

Being a moderator is the same thing as being a boss, and to be a good boss you have to be a bit of a "butthole" sometimes.

PBUG, does this mean that Ed has to be contacted and really has the last word prior to banning a member? I'm just asking..Been a member a long time and thought this was the case...I think someone pulled the trigger too fast in this case especially if said argument was via PM..

If a person volunteers for a Moderator's job I think he or she should not be allowed to voice their opinion on any post that is argumentative..Just moderate..

Not quite, when the boss allows personal issues to interfere with the good of the company, then it becomes a bad thing.
