Default How are you LA guys holding up??

It seems to be a little spoken about topic on this site since sac-a-lait steve's original post but I know there has to be growing fears and anxiety down there with you guys. I just want you all to know that we here on the NC coast are praying for you guys and praying that they get something done before the thing spreads to the rest of our atlantic coast. Hang in there guys, Hopefully these idiots are going to get things cleaned up.

At least the president has suspended any future exploratory drilling and all out cancelled lease sales off the VA coast. As far as I am concerned there should be no more offshore drilling. Keep that nasty stuff on land where they can atleast keep it under wraps. That seems like a no-brainer to me but I guess greed conquers all. Anyway, keep your heads up and hopefully it will all resolve itself soon.

It is a mess for sure. I sure agree about the greed. Stop drilling is not gonna fix the problem. I believe China is in the Gulf drilling now. I doubt if they care about our coastline.

If this offshore well had been in the Continental shelf, the mishap could have been easily salvaged based on the reports I have heard and read about spill prevention. Our present laws prevent drilling in logical areas. The oil companies are forced to drill in areas specified by our fine government.

There is no logical replacement for oil at present and that is the problem. Our present technology is not mature enough to overcome the energy demand. This wind, sun technology is just a pipe dream full of technical fallacies at present. However, this make good talking points for the environmental nuts.

Stop drilling will only put this country further into the debt of OPEC and China and other countries with chump change to loan us.

My basic take on this problem. I could be wrong.

I've said it before and I'll say it again now....Alcohol! It can totally replace all gas use without any of the carbon footprint and it is totally renewable because it comes from replanted high cellulose plant matter. For example, the by-products of corn, wheat, and hemp if they'd allow it would give us what we need. Whats more, we could put our farmers back to work and stop relying on imported food and oil. And as for motor oil and other types of lubricants, synthetics work better anyway.

The best part of this is the refineries we currently use can refine alcohol with small modifications. The vehicles we drive now can also be modified easily to burn alcohol instead. It's not such a far fetched idea unless you are swallowing the propaganda that the likes of BP are feeding us. The same folks who said that only 2000 barrels a day were being leaked out of the deepwater horizon spill. They run some of the fastest race cars on earth off of alcohol. Why not our cars? It might just save another disaster like the one we are having now but I know that makes too much sense to be implemented. I'm just saying.....

I don't know much about burning alcohol as a fuel, but I do know it takes a lot of wood to make a gallon of moon shine. The locals are now high tech and use propane burners to "cook" up a batch. Good moonshine costs about 10 dollars a pint. Moonshine will run in a lawn mower, but not for long. Guaranteed to burn a hole in the piston.

Why aren't we using out natural gas resources? I have ridden in a Rosch Ford and they kick ass running on propane.

My buddy has two trucks that run partly on hydrogen. He still burns gas but gets really exceptional milage. Can't remember exactly how exceptional and dont wish to be corrected.

I have heard of HHO kits being installed and having positive results on improved mileage, but I haven't heard any scientific reports.

Thanks bro... it's a mess down on the coast... shrimpers and other fisherman are losing their livelihoods as they've closed the coadtline to fishing and shrimpers... and BPs fix is at best a wait and see sort of fix. Drastic measures if this doesn't work is to burn the marshes now effected by the oil... which shouldn't be a consideration based on the cause/effect consequences of doing so... hell who knows... betweent his and another hurricane season right around the corner LA may not make it through the year.
