Default Got rocked by property tax assessor

Wow. Close to a 6 digit increase. That a big increase in a stale economy and bad real estate market. I was under the impression that real estate value had plummeted. No houses have sold in our area in over 3 years, not even the ones that have "reduced" on the yard sign.

They gonna grab the money ain't they.

We have a personal property tax in Arkansas (Vehicles/trailers/boats/RVs) along with all of the others everone else has. I did my patriotic duty last year and bought a $50,000 Tahoe. It doubled my personal property taxes. I really feel patriotic now.

Here in Monroe County Tennessee taxes have remained about the same for the last 2 years. I think as things continue to get worse we will see them after every dime they can get. But first we need some jobs. Not Govt jobs but real jobs!

Call the assessor's office. There will be a procedure for contesting the assessment. You usually have a certain period of time to contest so get on it if you feel that it isn't an accurate estimate of the value of your home.

2nd the challenge!!!!!!! Our town in Vermont went through one and some houses increased by 70 thousand!!! The first house I rented here in Vermont I was offered to buy for $59 thousand during this reassessment they valued it at $119 thousand NOT!!!!!!!

Owner challenged it as nothing had been done except paint it and it got reduced to $69 thousand.

    Challenge it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You need a hurricane......after Katrina, property values have gone up considerably in my city. (so did the population). Property sales have gone up 33% in my subdivision in a year. The only bad thing is the canes destroy the fishing for a while. We are now beginning to see recovery from cane Gus 2 years ago.
