I have my berries in full sun. They like a slightly acidic soil so I bed mine in with pine straw. As it composts it releases H+ and keeps soil slightly acidic. Now is the time to plant here in bama.
I have always found wild berries. This year i wanna plant some raspberries. Anybody know any pointers? Mainly just looking as to where to plant them. Lotsa sun, or shade? Dry or wet soil...ect.

I planted a single raspberry plant at my house 2 yrs ago, and it had berries the first year. It is growing pretty good and keeps expanding. I have it growing by my shed it's half sun half shade. I only wish I had more room to plant more plants.
Can you get seedless black berry plants, I'm guessing they would grow in the south. Man I love black berry and peach cobbler.

MMmmmm... Fresh wild blackberries mashed with sugar and spooned on top of vanilla ice cream. I can't wait till June!
They grow wild here. I just hate the stickers and the wasps! We pick some most every year.

We took wild blackberry bushes right out of the woods, compose and pine needles in the soil. the grow fast. when they get to big we bend the over and stick the tops back in the soil. They grow roots at both ends and make the great arches full of blackberries.
Cook them down with a little sugar and water to make a fantastic blackberry syrup. That stuff would probably make a turd taste good!
