Still dark out side here from the rain and clouds. Better put those woodworking skills to use, and start an "ark".
Hope you local folks are taking care. All roads in Broussard and Youngsville have been closed, massive flooding so far. New Iberia has just reported they have received 9" since this morning. And, the rain isn't supposed to let up until late tomorrow evening. Must be some sort of tropical depression swirling above us.

Kinda tropical looking over here too. Good luck!
Every day is a holiday and every meal is a picnic.
If this system had stayed over the Gulf after it left near Florida we would be looking at a named storm in the Gulf.

Friend of mine was over this evening. Got a call his aunt who lives north of Batonrouge got flooded out last night. Sad it came up in the house before they knew it was flooding.

Went out this morning to go to Lowes. A line of folks there buying sand. Pallets were stacked up inside the front door with four Lowes employees helping load these poor folks up. I was there buying nails, the only one buying something other than sand. The Vermilion gauge next to my driveway at 8:00 this morning:
It's probably gone up another foot and a half since then. The low spot on my driveway now under water:
Highway 1252 bridge by my driveway this morning:
Highway 1252 going into town:
We are now out here on an island surrounded by water. At this point, we park one vehicle on one side of the low area and paddle the pirogue back and forth. High and dry here, water has to come up probably another 30 feet before it enters the house. Been here 25 years and have never seen anything like this. My wireless rain gauge says 16.4 inches since it started. And it's still pouring down rain.
Ya'll be safe.

My goodness that is sounding like the 1000 year flood we had here last year. Still have lots of folks out of homes and some waiting on Fedaral buyouts in areas that can't be rebuilt.
Hope all you folks come out OK.

Thanks Ray. A mandatory curfew is in effect - everyone is to stay home. They are launching boats in the Hotel Acadiana parking lot right now in town to rescue the folks staying there. Three feet of water in the lobby. And it's still raining.
