    Default Fig time

Today I picked my first fig from my tree known as Martin's Unknow. I picked it a day or two early because it spoils easily when it rains. It rained 1 1/2 inches yesterday and I found it with a split eye today. It was good but not as good as when it ripens fully in hot dry weather.

That fig is huge. Did you weigh it? I am going to have to plant one of those trees. My tree just played out. I put 20 pounds in the freezer and I have been waiting for a rainy day to make fig preserves. I know what you mean a dry weather fig is really sweet. I got lucky and most of my picking was in dry weather.

I never thought of weighing it. It did not taste at it's best because it was picked about 2 days early. Today I checked the two other figs on the tree and both had split wide open and soured. I might have a few cuttings this winter.
