    Default Jordan report 5/23

Told Gilby I'd post a report on Friday's Jordan trip so here it is. We got in the water and started fishing at Farrington around 3 pm. Wasted a little time in the mouth of the creek beside the landing there but Minnowboy did catch one small one and a white bass. Went over to the landing side of the bridge and checked out the channel. We trolled up and down the side the wind was blowing against and started picking up one here and there. Finally had 12 good ones. As it started getting dark we went through the bridge and tried the road bed and channel over there, caught a couple more. Tied up over the edge of the channel at dark and got skunked the rest of the night. It was a beautiful day with very little wind and we sure enjoyed being back out on the water. We'll be back crappies...so just hang around.

Olefisher and Anchorpuller, I hadn't caught much of anything at Jordan and I sure wasn't going to that pier. Instead I went to the Jordan dam spillway late last week. I wanted to try to catch some nice channel cat. I didn't do bad. Kept about eight one and two pounders. Saw one guy catch and keep a striper that morning. That afternoon lots of folks were on both sides of the spillway on the concrete pier and on the rocks casting for striper. I saw another guy catch a keeper and right after that catch one that was too small. Seemed like the only bait any fish were biting were shad, and bunches of shad were in the water.

    Default bank fishing?

Ms. Catfish...are ya bank fishing? The bridge at Farrington road and Farrington ramp has a lot of bank fishers. They hang a lantern off the bridge just over the water and fish under the bridge. They seem to do dang well as I'm sitting there tied up under the bridge. Think they're after crappie though. I put on a nightcrawler on the bottom on occasion up there and can't keep the 1 and 2 lb cats off of it....course thats what I was going for on that....well heck any eating fish that will bite it.

Thanks for the info, olefisher. I bankfish. Ain't got no boat, pontoon, canoe, kayak, raft, nor tub. I take it the folks at Farrington Road and Farrington ramp fish at night, since they have lanterns out. Can you tell how they do by the ramp? I've had pretty good luck in the afternoons near other boat ramps.

Ms. Catfish, I'm one of the bank fisherwomen too! Me and my friends do more night fishing than daytime cause we do seem to catch more by using the latern. We catch mostly crappie and cats'.

Hey, Jasmine! Good talkin' with another bank fisherwoman! I fished a lot this past winter at the Belles Church pier at night and caught crappie all winter. I've slowed up because of that truck with the headlines in the parking lot business, and also because the fish seemed to have slowed down now that it's warm.
In the summer I like to go to the coast and try for Spanish and other saltwater fish. Down there I'm either on the piers or fishing on the surf. Guess what? I'm sixty years old and never learned to swim.... Tight lines!

Just remember age is just a number--actually age is a good thing!
    Makes us more WISER!

A few months ago I bang-up my knee and it has slowed me down to bank fishing and the last time that I went over to EB the white truck spooked me too!
I can relate with you-I can't run fast either and don't feel like messing with some odd behaviors while I am out try to enjoy fishing!

Ms. Catfish just take a friend with you when you go out and I think everything will be ok. Lets don't let this character mess up our fishing world!
~~To be frank- my freezer is getting low and OH I Love Fishing!

Either one of you two ladies happen to see my old fat butt out there, holler. I'd love the company, if you would like.
