    Default New State Record Crappie?


    This was posted today on NC Deer Hunting and Fishing Forums...anyone heard about this yet? I have asked him for more details....



    my buddy deerhuntindoggystyle10 unofficially captured the state Crappie record yesterday. His crappie even after sittin in a cooler over night weighed 3 lbs 5 oz. it looked to be about 16-17 inches long. Previous record is/was 3 lbs 4 oz.

    Poppop is it a white crappie it might be but black crappie is i think 5lbs 2 ozs not sure !but i know the white crappie is 3 lbs 4ozs!

    not sure....hadn't been across it today....but in most incidents...Flat Swamp and Abbotts will be clearer than the main channel...if you are putting in at either you should be okay.

    The state record Black crappie weighed 4lbs 15oz. It was caught at Lake Lucas. The fish was mounted and is on display in the office at Lake Lucas.

    This is the response I received last night regarding this crappie. I am still not sure of the details, but it is my understand it was caught somewhere in or near Johnston County.


    Dont know if there are any pictures yet. He had the witnesses sign today had the official wiegh station sign. And he hasnt been able to get up with the Commision yet?? anyone have a number he can actually talk to someone?


    He is getting it mounted

    Yea kellog is right 4lbs 15oz i knew it was close to 5lbs!My little one caught a white crappie 5-5-08 that weighed 1lb 14ozs!

    Here is the photograph.....check it out I am not good enough on big crappie to tell if this is more than 3 pounds 4 ounches.
