Talking Crappie in the pond 4/6

Minnowboy, my son, and I have been waiting for the weather to clear enough to run back to Jordan and finally got tired of waiting. Sunday after church we took off to a pond/small lake he has access to. It was cloudy, chilly, with a little breeze. We caught a few here and there and finally figured out they were on top. Started fishing our minnows about 15" and wore their butts out. This was a great pond for crappie, if you could keep the small bass off of the hook. We brought home 20 crappie that were all 11-13" in 3 hours. Didn't cull a one. Used up our 4 dozen minnows or we'd still be there. Felt good to see the float slipping away as Mr. Speck tried to steal a free meal. We'll be having a fish fry tonight. Try and get pics posted later today of the catch.

Wish my pond held the ones that size.

    Default heyyy......

wish it was my pond....it was about a five acre "pond" and I was told about 20' in plenty of spots. It was like being at Jordan. They didn't quite seem to have the weight that Jordan crappies do but I just cleaned those 20 and had about 6-7 lbs of filets. Mmmmmm........supper tonight.
