Ok I’ve asked around and tried to find the correct information online. I’m getting different answers. What is required by laws for lights on a kayak. I know a 360 degree white light but what about navigation lights? (red/green)
Dave, I'd put the led strip red and green on the front. Boat's if they see your 360* light know you are there but not which direction you are going if they loose sight of you for a moment. The boats need to see which side to pass you on. I have seen no lights at all on some of these idiots here on Big Allison after dark and man they are asking for trouble. Even a paddle boarder in the main channel what a dummy! Don't take a chance go to DNR and get it from the horses mouths. Be safe !!

Jon boat,Bass boat,Pontoon boat,Kayak, all have the same light requirments.
Reflective strips on your vest would be good also. When I would paddle at night I would keep a spotlight handy as well. That 360 white light can blend in with shore lights. The flash of a spotlight is eye catching. Got to watch out for the power boaters they don't look out for you. I was in a red kayak, red paddle vest and a bending branches yellow paddle and still had some boat pass by too close for my comfort in shallow water.
