    Default Roanoke Stripers

Went up to Weldon twice this week. First trip was with the wife, second we took my uncle and dad. Both trips we caught 35-40 stripers, and a handful of catfish, anywhere from 14 to 22 inches. Got our limit the first trip, second trip got cut short from motor issues but we almost had our limit. Had a blast both trips, the fish are up there if you're interested. Both days we ran south from Weldon, below the powerlines of you're familiar. It was a great week of fishing and spending time with family. Now it's turkey season and boat maintenance for me for a while. Get em while you can!

How was the crowd up there? Many people on the river? Curious how the pandemic is effecting the crowds.

Really was not bad at all. Id say max 20 trucks with trailers and probably 10 or so people bank fishing. Compared to how I've seen it in the past it was calm.

From what I've seen its fine down stream as long as they are running enough water. My unlce has a 19ft Maycraft and fishes it every year. I have a 2072 G3 Jon, neither of us have hit rocks, but it has never been low when we go.There are rocks, so it's always possible. Just be cautious ther are lots of trees on the banks, some break loose, so watch for hazards always. I think when we went they were running 8000 cubic feet of water at the dam, it is the spawning operation, you can find this quick with a google search they have a schedule.

There is a place called Bargain Land to get bait, here is the link Bargain Land - Google Search. The ramp should be open, it is a nc wildlife resources ramp many of those are still open.

Thank you for your feedback. Is bargain land selling shad or just bass minnows?
