too early
all crappie don't bed at the same time and neither do they all bed in shallow water. the best time to fish is when it is overcast. warm, not windy, and the fish are biting. If I get three or four good days a year I feel lucky.

Hank22,
I think it depends on what type of fishing technique you will be using, that determines when you need to come and fish . I fished 3/2 Monday. Now I'm not really experienced enough on Jordan to answer your question. I could only manage about 8 fish but wind was up 8-10 mph . If you are a really seasoned spider rig guy , like alot of these guys are. You shouldn't have a problem. I'll let those guys , chime in. But fish I did catch were at 13-14 FOW. Please listen to them not me. Water was still muddy stained near the New Hope-Haw River split. Temp. 51-52° surface. And we're supposed to get rain again tomorrow. Take this post with a grain of salt.
Thanks! Sea Dancer I guess we will ride down Monday and check things out. We are use to fishing brush! It is about 3 hrs trip. Maybe we will catch enough for supper not looking to catch a truck load just want to have a safe and good time!

I would still look deep some right now. Sunday water temp was still under 50. I striper fished Hickory Sunday and most of the bait and fish I marked were in the creeks, but still deep. 18 to 24 foot or so. I am assuming a lot of the fish we marked were crappie although I did not fish for them at all.
