Harris Report and Questions
Fished Harris Sunday (7/15) for two hours before sunset. Marked a lot scattered "something" all over the place in 8-13 fow, lots of small dots baitfish maybe? Also marked what appeared to be nice groups of gamefish, could look at the DI and say "that looks like a group of crappie" and "that looks like a school of bass" was showing my 17 year old son how to use the fish finder. Despite marking a lot of good looking fish only caught one nice sized perch.
I was trolling cranks but the fish was up in the water column so I might have been fishing too deep. I took off the bandit 300s and put on some shallow running cranks and tried trolling a road runner grub, but no takers. Wonder what I should have done differently?
Was still a beautiful evening and the pleasure boaters kept it interesting by generating 10 foot swells.

I will be the first to admit that I need alot more experience when it comes to crappie fishing but I did stumble upon them two weekends ago out to Harris, I used my SI in about 14-20 FOW and found some brush that was standing about 6-8 feet tall. It seemed like there were an abundance of small ones and afew large crappie mixed in but after finding about six of these brush piles I had a decent mess of fish, that is really all the advice I can give, good luck out there.

I was down there last Friday afternoon and saw the exact same thing on my finder. The fish were suspended all over the place. I was fishing anywhere from 8-18 feet of water. There was no pattern to where they were hanging out at all. Best I could figure was that they were chasing baitfish all over the place. Not sure if they were crappie, bass or perch but I had no luck getting them to hit trolled jigs or crankbaits. The crappie I did catch were caught drifting minnows just off the bottom near some kind of structure (stumps, brush, weeds, etc.).
