If non ethanol fuel is not available then we are forced to run 10 % ethanol fuel. That being said there is no reason to pay extra money for higher priced higher octane fuel. All your modern engines outboard or automotive are designed to run on 87 octane fuel. Higher octane fuel does not contain any more additives as far as cleaners or stabilizers than higher octane. All it has is octane boosters which in engines designed to run lower octane fuel can cause pre ignition because of its lower flash point which can be detrimental to your engine over time. This also can be exacerbated when using a lot of the fuel additives because they also have a octane booster in them. It's hard to notice the difference on our larger motors, but take a small weed eater or lawn mower motor and notice the difference in how much easier it starts after adding Stabill or Startron stabilizer to your gas.
