Default Oriental NC Red Drum Sun night Mon morning.

Sorry I don't have any photos to add at the moment but I was handling the fish so my hands were slimy and covered with love. At this time of year big red drum 30-50 inchers congregate in the lower Neuse and Pamlico rivers to spawn (and the boys were ready to spawn with anything that touched their belly - again no photos of my own). Sun eve my sis, an old friend and his 13 yr old son took her boat out. After a very short wait the boy caught his first ever and shortly afterwards my sis had hers. We landed a total of 8 that night and had another 4 or 5 runs that didn't connect. The next morning we took 2 of her coworkers out and a young man from South Dakota caught one that could have eaten the walleye he was used to catching. That was the only hook up other than a ray that day. We did have several other runs that didn't connect. Between drum bites there were all the pinfish, hogfish, croakers, that one could stand to catch on smaller rods used to mix up the baits offered along with mullet we bought. It is a world class fishery that you should try if you have the chance.

I'll try to get photos to add.

    nice.

Im about to head out the door and pplay around with the drum/flounder this afternoon and tomorrow at oak island (closer to home, faster fishing!)

probably be forced to pull the boat back with the storm bearing down.

Went back Thurs eve and Fri ALL DAY INTO THE NIGHT. 15 on Thurs including new personal best of 54.5 inches. Only 2 on Fri despite fishing long and hard. The wind had changed and killed the bite.

We were there Thursday and Friday also. Caught 9 Thursday and stayed in the creeks out of the wind Friday. Killed the trout in the creeks.

Back out there Fri night and caught over 20. My buddy said he was done when he caught his 13th that night. I hadn't been counting so I don't know our exact count. The light breezed laid out completely and it slicked off to the point you could see stars reflecting on the water surface.
