    Default New to the board

I just wanted to say Hello and thanks for all the information you guys are willing to share with others. I have always been interested in crappie fishing but never had any luck with locating them. I have been a hunter foremost but had to give that up due to bad back and cancer treatments. Found a good deal on a fixer upper bass boat and will start on it pretty soon, so I need all the information you guys are willing to share so I will be able to locate Mr. Crappie.

welcome from Fayetteville. The way I see it there are five stages a Crappie goes through each year. stage 1. He is stuck to the bottom and you can't see him on the depth finder. Stage 2. He is buried in a brush pile and won't come out so you hang up on the brush and loose your rig. That runs him out but by the time you tie another rig he is back under the brush. Stage 3. He is chasing shad and he wants the only color jig that you don't have. Time to visit Monk. Stage 4. They refer to this period in the cycle as "staging". They are getting ready to spawn and the only thing they are thinking about is the Crappie in front of them and where you find them today they won't be tomorrow. Then there is Stage 5. The shallow water spawn. This is when everyone goes crappie fishing for their one year trip and the boats are so thick you can't fish. The weather is rainy and wind twenty five from the north east except on Saturday and Sunday but by then the lake is ten feet above normal and everybody is in the same spot. I love it and as long as the crappie let me win once in a while I will keep trying.
