    Default New Graph

I'm getting ready to purchase a new graph for my console and I'm very undecided. I have lowrance now on my old boat and really like some of this new hummingbird stuff but have been burnt a few times with it. Has anyone tried any of their new stuff and all opinions welcome. Thanks Billy Niten

Just sold my Lowrance stuff and got the new HB Helix 10. So far I am impressed with the Helix 10. Check with Brian at BBG.

I have an Onix 10 and the HD map for the lake I fish (lake norman) is unbelievable. I now find points, creek channels, etc that I never could find before. I can troll and stay on the edge of channels and other structure while looking at the graph with the depth finder verifying it. I catch more fish!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got a 597 with down imaging a few years ago and was very pleased with it; last year I got an 899 with side imaging and I am amazed by what it can do to put fish in the boat. I did have a couple of problems with the 899 but HB replaced the unit at no charge and it has been operating flawlessly. There is a learning curve to go through to be able to accurately interpret what it shows on side imaging and when you master that, you can usually find fish, even when the going get real tough.
    (EXAMPLE)
I hit a creek under extreme flooding conditions, the water was very dirty and had fast floodwater coming into it from low land on all sides. I scanned the whole creek without seeing any fish, I did see some very small dots at one place and went back to that spot and did a closer scan. The scan showed a small area with a large congregation of fish which turned out to be about 150 crappie. I caught my limit in about 45 minutes and spent the rest of my time culling out smaller fish for larger ones. The flood conditions still exist and I have limited out on five trips since. Other anglers have stopped fishing because of the flood conditions, most of them could not find the first fish. Without the side scan, I doubt that I would have ever discovered this honey hole.

Can't go wrong with the new Helix units. Call or send David a private message at "shut up and fish" he can hook you up and also answer any questions you may have.

Charles was in a training workshop with Jason Halfen, the Technological Angler, last weekend. He told the class that Garmin was coming out with some game-changing technology. Don't know what it is, but I reckon we will know someday soon.
