JC it was great to meet you and Joey this weekend! Had a great time fishing and at dinner Friday night! Great job on a 3 place finish! We will be taking you up on that offer to come down your way to catch some of those fish that you showed us pics of! Again great to meet you guys and cannot wait until next time we get to fish together! Hopefully sooner than later!

I agree with Shane, it was great meeting you and Joey. Enjoyed fishing near you guys both days and having a chance to meet you in person. I'm sure we will see each other on the water in this area and down East in days to come.
For those reading this post, I have to share with you some of what happened Friday and Saturday. JC and I have shared emails, texts and even talked on the phone over the past year. He has never lake fished before--just rivers in the Coastal Plain. He decided to come and I was glad he did.
We met at the Harris ramp on Friday morning around 8:30 to get in some practice for the day. Fishing in our boat was Charles, MacCrappie, my friend Jim from my church and myself. We all talked and shared some tips, then hit the water. JC called around lunch and sounded quite dejected. He had never fished in 30' water in his life and they had only caught two little perch. I told him to come on over where we were and give it a try.
A few minutes later I saw his Carolina Skiff coming up the lake and pulled in beside us. We had been doing okay, but not great. From looking at my depthfinder, I knew there were lots of fish in the area, just had to get them to bite. JC and Joey put our their rods to see how they could do in this new area.
What happened over the next four hours was one for the record books. It's too bad no one had a video camera, because it was a sight to see. They ended up catching 59 white perch (many large ones as in the picture above) and numerous crappie. There were times each one would be winding in a fish, have a rod stuck between their legs trying to keep a tight hookup and another rod with the tip just a bouncing in the water. It was a circus and all us old guys in our boat were just loving watching the action take place. Most of us have all had those magical moments on a boat and this had to be one of them for these two guys. It was obvious they are good fishermen, they just needed to figure out lake fishing and then it was "game-on"!!
To those out there that have ever been a coach, it is always a joyous occasion when the student grows up and can beat the coach. I felt like that yesterday. Here were these two young guys that had never fished on a lake and they ended up beating us old guys. It wasn't by much, but they did edge us out.
Congrat's to a couple of guys that were willing to drive three hours from Edenton to be a part of our fishing family in this part of NC. I'm sure we will be seeing JC and Joey around again.

Hunter I will be fishing hopefully this Friday if the rain doesn't keep us from going. I will let you guys know if the perch are showing up thick.
