I would love to see the population in Lake Hickory taken down a notch. It is just about impossible to fish near the bottom with minnows for crappie. You cannot keep the perch off the hooks. Now I also like to go catch a mess for the kids to have fun and to have a fish fry, but would rather be catching crappie.

Our government typically doesn't do well dealing with any type of invasive species if you just think about it... at least until things get well out of control and there seems to be no turning back. Especially when (economically speaking) there's really no immediate profit in dealing with it.

There are direct (not immediate though) benefit in ridding of white perch in inland fisheries. For example, without white perch, Lake Norman crappie and wite bass should do well.
