Default DATE CHANGE!! Jordan Lake--June 22 now JUNE 1st!!, 9:00 AM Meet Fisheries Biologist

I talked to Jessica Baumann, the NC Fisheries biologist for Jordan lake, this morning and she would like to meet with all interested crappie fisherman. She suggested that we meet on June 22 at 9:00 at Farrington Point under the big oak tree. Jessica has been on the job less than a year, so she is going to try and get the previous biologist to join the meeting as well. She asked that I spread the word and see if this is a good time for many of the Crappie.com folks to meet.

Jessica said she will have all her results from testing this past Spring and Winter ready by our meeting. One thing I told her is that many of the guys are asking about aging crappie on Jordan and she said she will have data that she can share on this topic.

I need two things from you guys:
    • Is this a good time to meet?
    • Please send along questions that you would like Jessica to answer. I will copy and paste all the questions into one document and send them to her. We will get a better response if she has time to prepare for our questions.

One other thing, since we always like to eat when we get together, maybe we can see about some folks bringing some biscuits, doughnuts and coffee. Bring some bag chairs to sit in and we can take our time talking about crappie fishing.

I wonder I there is a sufficient forage base for the entire system to support the larger size fish.

My questions are, How is pollution affecting the fish population in Jordan (and other local lakes Harris, Falls, and Kerr)? What is anything is being done to combat the pollution? There is no local signage to identify invasive plant or animal life such as mill foil and snake head and Asian carp or ask boaters who visit lakes affected with these invasive plants and fish to not release such fish or bring their boats into lakes not infected by mill foil. Shouldn't DFW post such signs in an effort to educate boaters and help prevent the spread of invasive species.
    Gotta go, fish on!

Thanks for sending along questions. I'll be copying them into a Word document to send over to Jessica a week before we meet.
