Hyco Lake...so close, so far
Went to Hyco on Friday, dropped the boat into the water from the boat house, cranked the engine and let it warm up a bit. I proceeded to get the rods/gear from the boat house. I heard a squeal and realized it was the overheat horn on the engine. I quickly jumped into the boat and took a quick glance at the "pee stream" as I reached for the ignition switch. Hmmmm, not too good.....no water stream from the engine. I checked the simple things, and decided to do a short trip using the trolling motor. My bride and I managed to pick up a couple of white bass about 1/4 mile from the house....no crappie.

Man. Sorry to hear this. Hope you have a better day next time.

Those impellers will go bad pretty quick sometimes, especially if you crank out of water.
Gotta go, fish on!

Yep, As in this case, I always try to have the cavitation plate below the surface by at least 2 inches.

The impeller will also crack if you leave the motor raised up during freezing temps. Generally wont crack the housing, but the impeller will sure go to pieces.
