Very nice trip.
Had the day off today so me and Mike and Zach headed to Badin as Mike had some business down that way he had to attend to. Got on the lake with some crappie minnows and then caught some shad for some catfishing. Lots of birds in Garr creek area, but the only thing we could bring up in the net was some white perch. Ended up at the dam catching enough shad for the day and just started fishing right there. Picked up several there and moved on down the river stopping at a couple places and catching more cats and this 26" striper on cut bait off the bottom in about 5-7 feet of water. Gut hooked her so she came home for tomorrow nights dinner.
Fished in some shallow coves for crappie to see if we could find any, but nothing doing. Moved out in the deeper water towards the train tressel and marked a bunch of "something" around 23' of water. Dropped some minnows down and started wearing out the white perch. Probably caught 40-50 perch there along with 1 crappie about 9". Moved back up toward the dam to finish off the day and bait and picked up several more cats. Ended the day with 1 striper, 1 crappie, 40-50 perch, and about 20 cats from 4-9 lbs. The striper was the only thing that took the ride home. Water color was great and temps were 51-54 degrees. Zach ended up with the biggest cat . . . go figure!
