Boyce, you beat me to the punch. I had the same thought about damarshall jumping on Redboat the way he did Jiggshooter for starting another thread about the White Bass.

Real funny guys. Every message board I am a part of has rules against starting new topics for something there is already a topic for, I guess that rule doesnt exist here. I just found it asinine to start one topic on going to look at a boat and one topic stating you bought the boat. Neither topic adds anything to the board.

Fished Stagecoach, Lick, and Eno yesterday from shore and never saw a white bass. I was fishing pretty hard, so they either aren't there yet or they were not eating. I tried beetle spins in 1/8 and 1/16 in black head/white and pink head/white. I also threw white rooster tails. I did catch one very nice jack/chain pickerel but that was the only fish. I didn't even catch a little dink crappie. Very few people were fishing but everyone I talked to said they had not caught any, except for one person who said they had caught one. The water color and level at stage coach are close to perfect, and the temps are good so I'm not sure whats the problem. It's supposed to be almost 80 degrees today, and last night at 11 it was still in the upper sixties so maybe this is the weekend it goes off for both white bass and crappie.

From what I've read biologists are uncertain as to whether water temp or length of daylight is the main key for triggering the run. Looking back through several years posts on a couple boards and my own records the run gets started pretty consistently the 2nd to 3rd week in March. Most of the time water temps hit ~50° during the same period. This year the temp is going to be right about 2 weeks early. Bucks are usually in first and start to stage in the Eno near the trestle early on with the sows moving in about a week behind them. If they don't start showing up in the next few days it's probably a safe bet that daylight hours play the biggest part.
You just gonna sit there an argue, or fish?

I can't speak for Redboat, but I was just teasing you a bit. I would suggest most guys here are like my self. Not too computer savvy. It was a big moment for jigshooter and he is, and should be proud about his new purchase. You came across pretty condescending in my opinion. No harm done, and I hope you will continue to participate. Sorry if I offended you. Oh, and asinine is pretty much the norm here.

Just get him on, then we'll worry about getting him in!

No worries guys, It is the internet, i know im going to get teased. Ill still be here and try and contribute what I can. I just started crappie fishing after may years of bass fishing, so I have a lot to learn and this is a great resource and community for that. Just got my little Gheenoe set up for spider rigging and am ready for this white bass run and spring crappie fishing. Hoping i can fill the freezer!

Good luck Mr. Marshall, I look forward to your reports. The fishing is only going to get better from here.
