    Default Hi-Vis Yellow question

Heres a question for you guys before I go out and buy some new line for my crappie reels in a few weeks. I was thinking about putting Vicious or some sort of the hi-vis yellow on my set ups for this spring. 6 lb. I long line troll for crappie. Would this be a good fit? Never been a fan of colored line but did use some Suffix this summer for river smallmouth in Michigan and it is kinda cool to be able to see your line better.

Does the yellow color effect the crappie bite is my main question I guess? And does it matter that I will be trolling with the hi-vis yellow?

Depending on the number of lines you intend to pull...you'll find the colored line will help show you where you need to cast after reeling in a fish. You'll need to "see" the other lines so you can make a decent cast between those lines to get your jig back out. Also, the colored line helps you bring in a fish without allowing it to tangle other lines because you can "see" which side the fish is pulling towards. All I have ever used for longlining is 6 lb test.

The fish dont mind that yellow line either.Thumbs Up

Won't bother the fish at all.

I won't reveal the identity of a fellow fisherman that catches lots of fish but he uses orange line that looks as big as rope, which it may very well be looking at the size of his fish.

Chief, you care to add anything?
Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish, he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

I use 6 lb. Mr Crappie Hi-Vis green (looks yellow to me) on all my rods. If it affects the bite I can't tell it. After some time the line looses it's yellow color. Being able to see the line is a huge advantage. Now that I see half as well as I used to, I couldn't do without it.

Just get him on, then we'll worry about getting him in!

Can you still get the Mr. Crappie line in the 1/4 lb spools? BPS doesn't have it anymore & the Academy website only has 500 yard spools.

The Mr. Crappie Hi-Vis is all I will use anymore. If you're going to run multiple rods, its the only way to go. You can't completely eliminate lines from tangling, but the high-vis will help you see the lines out over the water and then helps in the boat when the inevitable tangle does occur.

I tried an off brand hi-vis yellow the other day that I got cheap to see if I noticed any difference. Caught plenty of fish on that rod so I have no problem using it. Have a few reels lined with it now for the spring.
