    Default Rig how to?

I love to troll for Crappie, and I use mostly minnows with a double hook rig I tie myself. The rig has the weight on the bottom. I would like to start using jigs, but was wondering what kind of rig to use? Do I use the same rig but with no weight at the bottom or a different rig? The jigs I have are 1/32 will that be OK to troll with or will it need additional weight. I tight line troll and long line troll. Any help would be great.

Your weight of choice (I use bullet weights), orange bead, then a swivel. 18-24 inch leader with a jig head tied on. Sometimes I run a loop knot and tie on double rigs. I tightline minnows and jigs and have had good success this year with this setup. A few windy days, I had to step up to a 1 oz. sinker.

why not use the same rig, just replace your gold hooks with the jig heads and leave the wieght on the bottom.

I longline and use a 1/32 and 1/16 ounce jighead on top and a gold hook with a minnow on the bottom with a splitshot weight between the jig and the gold hook anywhere from a bb to a #7 for the splitshot. When you start out vary some of your rods with different combinations of these and use a consistent speed I prefer from .6 to 1.0 mph depending on the water depth. When you start noticing you are catching more fish on a certain combination you have found your depth to change them all to. I also like to put a different color jig on each rod when starting out to find out if they are preferring a certain color that day. This method requires some work but it will allow you to find out what is going on with the fish alot quicker; and it will usually produce some fish in the worst of conditions. I have also been using a reel or two lately (carolina rigged) a couple cranks off the bottom with a minnow only and been having some success while longlining the other rods. Hope this helps

front of the boat I use a capps/coleman setup with a 3/4 oz weight in the middle. out the back I will use a carolina rig with 1/2 to 3/4 oz bullet weight and 18'' leader. for longlining I just tie on 1/32 jig heads and sling em far as I can. Whatever you do you will have to adj speed as you go according to depth. When they get feeding agressively you cant do no wrong/

Google Capps and Coleman rig, this gives you another option.
