    Default high rock 7-20

finally caught a break in the weather/work schedule and snapped up a crew to hit the rock last night.

myself and 2 others were on the water and anchored up at dark and started catching fish immediatly. got 12 dozen minnows at hills last night and slightly disapointed at the small size compared to what im usually used to getting there, but i still cant complain i suppose.

called it quits at 1 am once we ran out of minnows. bite was fast and furious all night with short breaks here and there, but the fish were very small! each of us didnt fish but 2 rods most of the night.

about midnight my buddy accidently dropped my prized most favorite rod which i call the "magic stick" about midnight. i tried everything to catch it. spent over an hour tryin to snag it while the other boys kept fishing....oh my the jokes were at a premium.

decided to cut our losses and head home, gave the rod to my buddy to give it a try while i packed the boat up....you guessed it, first drop he snagged the magic stick and brought her onboard!! redemption.

we must of caught dang near 80+ fish last night...3/4 of those crappie and a few perch/white bass. only planned on keeping the biggest of fish for a fry on Saturday.

brought home 19 crappie from 10-15 inches. had a pair that were pushing 1 3/4 lbs, and several respectable 1 lb fish. 3 white bass, and 1 4 lb channelcat. was a muggy night but about 10p, there was a slight breeze on the water that made things comftorable.

fish caught about 6-10 ft deep over 24 FOW. water temp 91 degrees!

    Thumbs Up

Very nice report pete and a good result too.

Glad to hear you were able to retrieve the rod and reel.
I took my preacher out last year and he lost one of
my $125.00 Fenwick combos. We threw everything we had in the boat at it trying to retrieve it too... but there
was a fish on this one that took it over the side and was likely dragging it around on the bottom. We never
did find it and I have made several attempts every time I have fished the area since.
