Here is something I read tonight on the sports page that I thought I might share with y'all.
NFC Championship Game 2011: The Super Bowl is waiting in Dallas. The only thing left is for one of these two teams to answer the call and step through to immortality.
The Bears and Packers will duke it out on Sunday in the NFC championship game. Here are the leading items to watch for:
Quarterbacks - Both teams tout highly efficient quarterbacks. The one arm to make a statement early may just lead his team to victory. The Bears have to limit the time
Aaron Rodgers gets in the pocket. He is already adept when he gets the ball of quickly. He is deadly when he has time.
The Turf -The Chicago area has been getting some precipitation. The word is that the ground is getting a bit sloppy. That could hurt the Packers receivers more as the
Bears can fall back on the run game.
Mike Martz Offense - The Bears would do well to stay away from the mad mind of Mike Martz. Whenever he gets pass happy, Cutler feels the sting. He took tot he air last
time these two teams met and the results were disastrous. Cutler was again put to the ground and the Bears lost.
The Packers are getting hot at the right time. Green Bay finally gets a return visit to the Super Bowl.
AFC Championship Game 2011: The Jets are just one game away from the unthinkable. If they win on Sunday against the Steelers, they win a trip to the Super Bowl.
The Steelers are the favorites going into this one. So who wins? It all depends on the following:
Turnovers - The Steelers in particular were hit hard by the turnover bug last weekend. The fumbles they endured almost lost the game for them. It was only when the
Ravens had their own issues controlling possession that Pittsburgh took the win in the end.
Quarterbacks - This is more a Jets note than anything. Mark Sanchez has not been the epitome of consistency this season. He is far from the elite type of quarterbacks
that exude confidence late in a tight game. With the Steelers stopping the run, the game could come down to how well Sanchez decides to play on Sunday.
Defense - The Steelers will want Sanchez to take over the game. That will mean that they stopped the Jets running attack. That gives Sanchez all the more attempts to
throw the ball away. If the Jets can break down the defense with their run, there is a shot.
The Steelers are too tough of a team to play into any mind games the Jets will toss out to them. This one is Pittsburgh's to lose. Steelers are going to the Super Bowl.
