I am self employed and try to get away as often as I can, but it is hard in this economy. I keep reading post of all these young guys fishing 3 or 4 days a week. I'm not complaining......I guess I'm just jealous. Thanks for all the reports and I will try to work harder so I can join you some during the week. Go guys. Thanks for all the reports and information. Things are picking up some now so maybe I can join you every now and then. Fish on!
Capt.C........Life's short. Be a friend. Eat good. Have fun and fish hard!

You're not by yourselves, I have not even got my boat out yet. Have been working 50+ hours week, trying to keep things above the water. Will get to go sometime.
Look yall...........you are missing the point. Way back when my DNA was hammer forged together, it was determind that I would have to fish one out of 7 days. I wasn't given a choice, its the way it is. Cepting durring deer season.:p It's just what I do. I fished Sunday with the Godawfull crap that PJ35 gave to his dad. I ran snot and caughed till me tonsils hurt, I still braved the wind and rain and cold. I don't have a choice. Whiskey, honey, and lemon juce are at work right now. Missed 2 weekends this year because the high one day was 33 degrees,(went Hog Hunting), other was because they was 4" of sleet on the driveway. Those 2 days hurt bad.
I don't fish because I want to, I fish because I HAVE to !
Moma tried real hard.
Some fishermen are tough and determined...and then some are like Racoon...
Im self-employed as well. But, I fish. Its a hefty dilema most of the time, especially since I try not to fish on weekends.
I try to only work 5 days a week and try to trade out weekends for weekdays. The days I work I FILL the day with work. Early meetings before field work, long days, late meetings after the days work is finished, chase materials after hours, and prepare estimates into the night. If I dont fish i get aggitated and thats bad for buisness, so technically I should be able to write off tackle and such as buisness expenses, right?
When I get to busy take any time off (like this frickin week) I nightstalk.
God bless America
Jobs are made for quitting. I keep hearing the crappie sirens calling my name and I must answer....
I run my small company and I am also a small business ergonomics consultant. Over the years I have finessed my small company to the point that I have to do very little myself. The other huge factor is this terrible economy.
It's not like we are getting slammed with business right now anyway so that frees up a lot of my time. The fact is even if we were really busy I would do things during non fishing times. I already am doing that with what little I have to do now. I have learned that where there is a will... there is usually a way. It is usually all about priorities.
Being a college student I have found that the lake is a very good place to study. Study fishing that is. My classes end every day at 12:45 so for now I have some extra time to fish. But after graduation in May things are going to change. It'll be back to work full time then. I just don't know if I can handle it knowing all those fish are swimming around down there with out me chasing them. I guess I will be doing a lot more night stalks this summer, because I aint going to tackle High Rock during the daytime on a weekend.
