sounds great - most of the gang up here has either made the switch to hunting, or is just really busy getting ready for old man winter to arrive (winterize the boat, tune up the snow-blower, rake/mulch the leaves, etc.)

I've put my fishing rods away and dusted off the trusty old Mossberg.

I lived within 1 mile of Duck lake untill I was 40. Loved every minute of huntin and fishin in good ole Cayuga County NY. But I took a job in North Alabama a ways back and I dont miss the winterizing, and snowblowing. Long hunting seasons and year round soft water fishin and golf. Good luck with that Mossberg this year.

    Thanks RC.
Duck lake is maybe 10-15 minutes from the house for me. Its a great little fishing hole. State record black crappie came from there, and there is great bass fishing too. Haven't hooked into any of the tiger muskies they stock in there yet - one of these days

I was stationed in San Diego for a spell while I was in the Navy, and it surprised me that I actually got so I missed our brutal winters. I guess once a 315'er, always a 315'er!!!

I went there on the recommendation of Camo and it all started out fine. Then a guy asks where to find a jig he couldn't locate and I post a place where he can find it. The next day I come back and my post is gone. Thinking there was some kind of mistake I repost. Next day I'm banned from the forum. No explanation email. I email the admin. No answer for 3 weeks. He says he will look into it. Another 3 weeks go by. He say I'm not allowed to post and links to tackle companies that aren't sponsoring the site. I tell him that none of his sponsors handle the jigs the guy wanted and I was just trying to be helpful. He says he was away on vacation or something and he will straighten it out. A month later I check back in and I'm still banned. I email him one more time. A slightly less friendly email than is normal for me, but not nasty, just stating that I'm disappointed in the response time for this issue that was really a nit picky item as far as I was concerned. He says he will straighten it out and finally does, but to be honest, by this time I'm totally soured on the site and its leadership.

They also gave me a hard time about my reel review for the Ardent reel. They initially deleted my post, and then after I emailed them they put it back up under a new topic area, but that was a hassle too.

They are just too uptight for me there. The admin here are much more fair and committed to being helpful. I haven't been back to ULF in months and they still send me 2-3 emails a week with promotions for contests. Its irritating.

I've been fishin my keester off. Been getting quite a few crappies though nothing to brag about. I got 5 walleyes a couple nights ago. Largest was 8 lbs, smallest was about 15 inches. I typically go out at dusk for an hour and half and then sometime between 10 and 3 am I go out for a couple hours more. If they are biting I typically stay out 3-4 hrs in the latter time. Been doing a little steelhead but not much. I love fishing this time of year. I rue the ice. Stay away winter!!

Steelies and browns are in the Ontario tribs right now. Was thinking about going yesterday, ended up duck hunting instead. We only got one, but there should be a ton of birds dead of heart attacks from us scaring them with our shotguns

We didn't figure out why we were missing everything until on the drive home. Ducks coming in left to right + 30 mph wind coming right to left + steel shot = we didn't lead them enough due to the wind. We were shooting behind them. The one bird we got, we shot at late and were shooting more into the wind instead of across it.

    Another lesson learned!!!!

I get the same treatment at other sites! I'm lucky enuf to be able to fish alot of different spots in the state, and don't mind reporting the public access ones. ( some lakes/ponds are private, others are public, but I have private access to...) So i make a report, and then get hate mail via PM's saying "don't tell people there is fish there? " So i respond on the open forum and next thing i know I'm banned? I don't understand why people get their nice panties all in a bunch! :D You can't catch all the fish out of a lake! I know...I try to! There is always more next year...:p And as far as the Statement "leave some for the grandkids" How old do people think a panfish gets? :p Pollution and loss of habitat will be the killer...Not over fishing...
